PBIS

center on PBIS: Positive behavioral interventions and supports

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) is an evidence-based approach that the School for Achievement employs to promote safety and positive behaviors. It focuses on a three tier system with modified and additional supports at each tier as a student’s need determines. At the School for Achievement, our PBIS expectations are outlined for each setting (gym, hallways, playground, learning areas) within four main topics: Safety, On Task, Accountable, Respectful – or SOAR. These expectations are reinforced through an incentive system and at our school store. Students can earn by following the school expectations and demonstrating positive choices within their learning environment.
