ACCESSIBILITY AWARENESS DAY

In 2012, Wraparound Services of the Hudson Valley established Accessibility Awareness Day to bring attention to an important community need: accessible recreational spaces for individuals with disabilities throughout the Hudson Valley. The event was created to raise awareness, foster inclusion, and encourage dialogue around equitable access to parks, trails, playgrounds, and other public spaces.
Over the years, Accessibility Awareness Day became an annual tradition, welcoming friends, families, advocates, and community leaders to gather outdoors in support of accessibility and inclusion. Hosted at Walkway Over the Hudson Historic State Park on the Highland side, the event provided an opportunity for the community to come together in a visible and meaningful way to support recreational equity for individuals of all abilities.
The 13th Accessibility Awareness Day was held on Saturday, September 27, 2025. The event featured raffles, craft activities, guest speakers, and community engagement, all centered around promoting awareness of accessible recreation across the region.
Accessibility Awareness Day remains an important part of our agency’s history and reflects our ongoing commitment to advocacy, inclusion, and community partnership. We extend our sincere gratitude to our community sponsors and supporters who made this event possible year after year. Your partnership helped amplify awareness and advance accessibility throughout the Hudson Valley.
